Dr. Heath Franklin surmised:

"This will be some what a disjointed trip report as I was not there for the whole trip. So I will just post up the Saturday report and let the others post up when they get back.

I didn't get out to King's River until about 10 pm on Saturday night. We stayed up too late around the campfire so got a late start on Sunday. The group consisted of Sledheadak with Zach and a backseat full of young girls. We were joined by Todd and Kathy (username Todd) who have a '96 F350 on Boggers that is VERY capable, real nice people as well. Next up was Fartknocker, Heather and the kids, then Chris Lee and Rachel in the White Whale 'Burb.

We headed up Ruby dodging wheelers around every bend, it was busy up there like usual. No real problems, up to the mud pit on top. There was a HUGE hole that had probably a four foot ledge to exit. The Jimmy wanted to play so Mike took it through and tried to pop out, resulting in the wheelie posted above. Todd decided to give it a try and gave it a good go. He came really close to getting out but just not quite able to do it. Zach agreed to by the winch dude of the day, so he ran the cable to the Burb. Todd proceded to pull the Burb to him! So Zach hooked the winch up to a huge dead fall and popped out. Chris decided to the hole a go and almost made it, he hooked up to the Jimmy and winched out.

We decided to run up to the Frog Pond and let the kids check it out. We ate lunch and bs'ed a bit. When we saw a large group of four wheelers show up with toddlers on them with no protection we decided to get out of there before our resident doctor had to go to work. We headed back down the hill. On the way down I heard some popping from my suspension so I called a halt and checked it out. I had heard that sound before right before I lost a spring eye bolt. Sure enough, I had a spring eye bolt a little loose. Tightened it up and we were off. At the mud pit at the base of Cherokee hill, Fartknocker decided to give the Jeep a workout. He took a tough line and fought through it for a while until we just could not make anymore head way. Zach dove in and pulled cable, and after a couple minutes of creative winching Matt was in the clear. I wanted to try the hole as well, and got a little further. I almost popped out of the end but got my rear tires up against rocks that I couldn't climb over. Todd hooked a strap to me and popped me right out. We got ready to leave and the Jimmy wouldn't start, a little fiddling around with some wires, and the beast came back to life.

We wanted to try the trail from Kings River to Permenente as no one in the group had ever done it before. WOW!!!!!! It was like driving through a drinking straw!!!! Needless to say, it was not exactly full size friendly. I have to admit I was wishing I was driving something a little smaller, even a Jeep! YES, I said even a JEEP! Fartknocker laughed at us full size guys the whole way I think. I was trying to reposition to get through one tight spot and did not realize the Jimmy was so close to me and introduced the bumpers to each other, no damage though so all was good. We got almost to the end and ran into a uphill ledge with a tree you had to squeeze by. Not a lot of room up the ledge, not as narrow as the Perm ledge, but close. It was good to finally hit the main Perm trail and have some room to breath. A few mud holes that had some fun mud to chuck and we were back at the main road.

It was a great day with great people. I had a blast, and learned a few tricks at the same time."

There is times for skinny pedal and times to let off so you don't break..... who didn't break this weekend? Me and who drove home... me

Who broke and who trailered home? Someone mangled two tie rods and a diff cover...... who was that?

You have to remember, not all of us have the option of running so hard that they break. Unfortunately.......

Maybe but it wasn't up to Ray standards. I heardly saw any wheel spin or even a tire lifted off the ground. I'm disappointed by him...

I better be nice though, as I need someone to pull out my bronco when I get it stuck :)
